Steve Cho, 54, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He and his wife, Amy, have lived in Fremont for over 30 years. He earned his B.A. Degree in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and his M.S. Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. Steve and Amy have one daughter, Beverly, who just graduated from UC Berkeley with her B.S. Degree in Chemistry. Professionally, Steve is a Systems Analyst and operates a software consulting business in Fremont. Steve was elected to the Fremont City Council in November, 2000 and is currently serving as the Vice Mayor of Fremont. During the past four years, Steve has worked hard to represent the citizens of Fremont and to represent Fremont on Regional and State committees. He has earned the title, "The Ubiquitous Cho", because he is seen everywhere. Prior
to being elected to the city council, Steve
Cho was appointed to the Fremont Planning Commission in 1998. While serving on the Fremont Planning Commission, he had
worked hard to ensure all individuals and businesses that come before the
Commission were heard. Although
he may not always vote with the majority, Commissioner Steve Cho brought to
the table a sense of fair play. With
over 30 continuous years of community service and volunteerism, Steve Cho
most recently served as the 1999-2000 president of Citizens for Better
Community (CBC), a community service organization with a strong emphasis
on community involvement. During
his tenure as president, CBC through its committees, participated in or
provided financial contributions to the Tri-City Homeless Coalition,
Fremont Education Foundation, Fremont Libraries, East Bay Voters Education
Consortium, Census 2000, Asian American Donor Program, Ohlone College
Foundation, Washington Healthcare Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the
American Cancer Society. Over the
years, Steve Cho has been involved with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce;
the Fremont Charter Committee; the South Bay Chinese Service Club, holding
various positions; the Quail Run Homeowners Association, including two
terms as president; the Organization of Chinese Americans, including
serving as its president; Thornton Junior High Site Council; and the
Warwick Elementary School PTA, serving as vice president.
